Hope Church Worship Team Auditions

Positions looking to fill:

Thank you for your interest in auditioning for the Worship Team at Hope Church!  We appreciate your willingness to come forward!

Music is an integral part of what we do and we take it very seriously.  Being a part of the team requires specific skills and a larger commitment than many other ministries at Hope.  Furthermore, we view this ministry as a place to serve with humility not a chance to highlight your solos or play to an “audience”.  Egos are expected to be set aside and everyone is expected to honor each other through this unique serving opportunity.

The following are our expectations of every person who would serve as a vocalist or band member.  Before auditioning, please consider the following carefully:

  1. We are all in different stages of our spiritual journeys, but you must be able to affirm Hope Church’s unique core values.

  2. Formal auditions are required for every person interested in joining the team in any capacity. At this time, we will be accepting auditions in the form of recorded videos. If we see promising potential, we will then schedule an in person audition with Leanne, our Worship Leader, and potentially a few others from the Worship Team. Songs you can audition with are listed below.

  3. Vocalists and Instrumentalists are expected to be proficient in their musical area.  

  4. Both instrumentalists and vocalists are expected to be able to play/sing in a wide variety of styles and arrangements with a mainstream rock/Top 40 sound.

  5. Vocalists must be able to naturally harmonize.  The only direction that will be given during rehearsals will be for refinement purposes, not to teach a part. 

  6. Our aim is for ALL team members to memorize the music for the day they will be playing.

  7. Instrumentalists MUST be able to play with chord charts only.  We do not provide any instrumentation for music.  Being able to transpose at any time is a huge “plus”.

  8. You must be able to play with in-ear monitors.

  9. There will be times that we call special WT meetings and attendance is expected.

If you have the skill to perform on a Sunday morning the following is required:

  • Worship Team members are expected to serve at least once a month. Currently this time commitment would be 7:45am - 11am.  You are making a commitment to be on time.  Repeated offenses of being late is not acceptable.

  • Members are required to be at rehearsal the Saturday before the service from 8:30-10:30am.  If you cannot rehearse, you will not be able to play/sing.

  • When can you start?

If you aren't a fit for the Worship Team, you will receive one of two possible pieces of feedback:

  • Currently you don’t have the skill required and we want to thank you in grace and encourage you to find another way in which you can serve!

  • You aren’t ready YET, or we still have some questions or aren’t sure, you will be given 2-3 opportunities on a trial basis.  We will give you direction in how to improve. Also, there may be other environments that you may be directed to in which to work on your skills and proficiency at Hope Church.  This might include a Prayer Gathering or some other services.  There is a possibility that you could be in line for a backup role on a Sunday morning.

  • Who You Say I Am by Hillsong Worship

  • You may also submit one song of your choosing, Christian or secular, that you feel highlights your skills well. *This is optional*

  • Playing or singing along to a recording is fine!

*You are sending us recordings of at least two songs an additional song of your choice if you would like for a maximum of three songs.

  • Record your video and upload it to Dropbox, Google Drive, YouTube, Vimeo or other cloud storage service. Be sure to make the link shareable.

  • Please email Leanne Dudek at leanne.dudek@gmail.com and share your link!

  • Please include your name, how long you have attended Hope Church, a brief explanation of why you would like to join the Hope Worship Team and the position you intend on auditioning for.
